Just a 3-minute walk from the famous Glico sign, there is a unique-looking shop lined up the takoyaki shops. If you’ve been to Dotonbori, you’ll know the shop right away. What kind of building is it? Are you curious? The shop is famous for its delicate and refined delicious udon. It’s an udon shop that has been around since the old days in Namba. The oyakodon was also delicious with a strong broth.

Famous places in Osaka “Glico sign”!!
First, here! It’s the Glico sign in Dotonbori. It’s always crowded with tourists and locals. Everyone who visits Osaka passes through this place, don’t they? When the local baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers, wins, fans gather here to celebrate their victory. In the past, a statue of Colonel Sanders from Kentucky was thrown from a bridge into the Dotonbori River by enthusiastic fans.
The exterior of the shop I am introducing today looks like this. Among the large crab and takoyaki signs in the area, this shop stands out. The exterior is high-end and difficult to enter, but the interior is not like that at all.
The inside of the shop is very clean, and kind grandmothers welcome you.
I was guided to a seat at the back of the first floor.
The menu has not only udon but also many other dishes such as donburi (rice bowl) and tempura.
I ordered Kitsune Udon(\880) and C set(\800). The C set included Oyakodon and simmered radish. The contents of the donburi seem to change daily.
Classic “Kitsune Udon”
Kitsune Udon is a simple udon dish with two pieces of sweet and savory fried tofu and green onions on top. Compared to other udon shops, it has less soy sauce and sugar, and the main flavor is the broth. The soup has a refined broth taste and is very delicious. As you eat, the sweet and savory oil from the fried tofu mixes with the soup, changing the flavor and making it even more delicious. However, those who are trying this simple udon for the first time may find it to be a bit bland.
Oyakodon is also the best
Oyakodon is a Japanese dish made by simmering chicken and green onions in dashi, then adding eggs and cooking until they are set. It is served over rice and is known for its delicious broth. However, the eggs are not fully cooked, so they are very soft. Those who dislike raw eggs or rice that has become soft with dashi may not like it. Nevertheless, this dish is very popular among Japanese people.
I will post a photo of the half-eaten dish at the end of this article. The combination of fluffy eggs and rice is exquisite.
OYAKODON is parent and child rice bowl
By the way Oyakodon means Parent and child rice bowl. Because it is made with chicken (parent) and eggs (child). By the way, a donburi with pork and egg is called “other people’s bowl” because pork and eggs are not parent and child.
Total bill was ¥1680
The bill was 1680yen. This time, the kitsune udon was 880 yen, and the C set (oyakodon and radish) was 800 yen.
All udon were around 1000 yen.
The shop is very close to the Dotonbori River.
The location is easy to understand and the exterior is conspicuous, so you’ll find it easily.
Adress; 大阪市中央区道頓堀1丁目7番22号
A popular shop not only among Japanese people but also among foreign visitors.
“Dotonbori Imai” is the most famous udon shop in Osaka. It is very popular among locals, and many tourists visit it because it is located in a tourist area. There may be a long line outside the shop during lunchtime on weekends, but the inside of the shop is spacious with many seats, so you will get your turn soon.
please note! I’ll post a photo of the half-eaten oyakodon.
